Les prépositions in, on, at (lieu et temps)

In, on et at se traduisent souvent par « à », « dans » ou « sur ». Le bon choix dépend de ce que l'on décrit : un lieu ou un moment.

Les pièges

  • in the morning, mais on Monday morning (un jour précis) ;
  • at night, mais in the evening ;
  • pas de préposition devant next, last, this, every : next week, last year, every day ;
  • at the weekend (anglais britannique) / on the weekend (anglais américain).

À retenir

  • Lieu : in = dedans, on = sur, at = à un point précis.
  • Temps : at + heure, on + jour/date, in + mois/saison/année.
  • Jamais de préposition devant next, last, this, every.
