Every year, the city of Athens had to send fourteen young people to Crete, and none of them ever came back from the labyrinth.

Traduction

Theseus, the son of the King of Athens, decided to go with them. "I will kill the Minotaur," he promised his father. "If I succeed, my ship will come back with white sails."

Traduction

In Crete, Princess Ariadne fell in love with Theseus. She secretly gave him a sword and a ball of thread. "Tie the thread at the entrance," she said, "and you will find your way out."

Traduction

Theseus walked deep into the dark labyrinth, unrolling the thread behind him. He fought the Minotaur and defeated it. Then he followed the thread back to the light.

Traduction

But on the way home, Theseus forgot to change the black sails. His father saw them from a cliff and thought his son was dead. In his grief, he fell into the sea, which is still called the Aegean Sea, after King Aegeus.

Traduction
