A little boy received a box of twenty-five tin soldiers for his birthday. They were all identical, except one: he had only one leg, because there had not been enough tin.
Traduction
On the table, there was a paper castle, and at its door stood a beautiful paper dancer. She held one leg so high that the soldier thought she had only one leg, like him. He fell in love with her at once.
Traduction
The next morning, the soldier fell from the window into the street. Two boys found him, made a paper boat and sent him sailing down the gutter. He stood straight and brave, with his gun on his shoulder.
Traduction
The boat went into a dark drain, where a rat chased him. Then it reached a canal and sank. A big fish swallowed the soldier. Everything went dark, but still he did not move.
Traduction
Amazingly, the fish was caught, sold at the market and taken to the very same house! When the cook opened it, she found the soldier. He was back on the table, in front of the dancer.
Traduction
But for no reason, a child threw him into the fire. A gust of wind blew the dancer into the flames too. The next day, among the ashes, the maid found a little tin heart and the dancer's tiny sequin, burnt black.
Traduction
