A poor miller wanted to impress the king. "My daughter can spin straw into gold," he boasted. It wasn't true, but the king locked the girl in a room full of straw. "Spin it into gold by morning!"

Traduction

The girl was crying when a strange little man appeared. "What will you give me if I spin it for you?" She gave him her necklace, and by morning, all the straw was gold.

Traduction

The greedy king wanted more. The next night, the little man came again, and she gave him her ring. On the third night, she had nothing left. "Then promise me your first child," said the little man.

Traduction

Desperate, she promised. The king married her, and a year later, she had a beautiful baby. The little man came back to take him. The queen begged and cried.

Traduction

"If you can guess my name in three days, you can keep your child," he said. She tried every name she knew, but none was right. Then a messenger saw the little man dancing around a fire, singing: "Nobody knows my name is Rumpelstiltskin!"

Traduction

On the third day, the queen smiled and said: "Is your name... Rumpelstiltskin?" The little man was so furious that he stamped his foot through the floor and disappeared forever.

Traduction
