Phileas Fogg was a very precise English gentleman. Every day, he did exactly the same things at exactly the same time. One evening, at his club in London, he made an incredible bet.

Traduction

"Thanks to trains and steamships, a man can travel around the world in eighty days," he said. "I bet twenty thousand pounds that I can do it!" That same evening, he left with his new French servant, Passepartout.

Traduction

They crossed Europe and reached Egypt, then India. There, the railway was not finished, so they continued on an elephant! On the way, they rescued a young Indian woman, Aouda, who joined them.

A detective called Fix was following them. He was sure Fogg was a bank robber. He delayed them in Hong Kong, but Fogg still crossed the Pacific to San Francisco and then America by train.

Traduction

When they finally arrived in England, Fix arrested Fogg. By the time the mistake was discovered, Fogg was five minutes late. He had lost his bet and all his money. Sadly, he went home.

But the next day, Passepartout made an amazing discovery: by travelling east, they had gained a whole day! It was still the day before. Fogg ran to his club and arrived just in time. He won the bet and married Aouda.
