Au Royaume-Uni, presque toutes les écoles primaires présentent en décembre une Nativity play : les enfants jouent la naissance de Jésus, déguisés en anges, bergers, rois mages ou animaux. Les parents filment tout ! Pour raconter : prétérit (I played, I forgot, everyone laughed).

Grandma : Well done, Noah! You were a wonderful shepherd!
Bravo, Noah ! Tu étais un berger merveilleux !
Noah : Thanks, Grandma! But I forgot my lines at the beginning.
Merci, mamie ! Mais j'ai oublié mon texte au début.
Grandma : Nobody noticed! And who played the donkey?
Personne ne l'a remarqué ! Et qui jouait l'âne ?
Noah : My friend Sam. He fell off the stage and everyone laughed!
Mon copain Sam. Il est tombé de la scène et tout le monde a ri !
Grandma : Was he hurt?
Il s'est fait mal ?
Noah : No, he was fine. The audience clapped even louder!
Non, ça allait. Le public a applaudi encore plus fort !
