Beaucoup plus, un peu plus

London is much bigger than Oxford. / My bag is a bit heavier than yours. / This is far more interesting.
Londres est beaucoup plus grande qu'Oxford. / Mon sac est un peu plus lourd que le tien. / C'est bien plus intéressant.

On ne dit pas very bigger : devant un comparatif, on utilise much, far, a lot, a bit, slightly.

Égalité et infériorité

Mise en situation : le choix d'un téléphone

Assistant : This model is much faster than the old one.
Ce modèle est beaucoup plus rapide que l'ancien.
Tom : But it's twice as expensive! Is the battery the same as on this one?
Mais il est deux fois plus cher ! La batterie est la même que sur celui-ci ?
Assistant : No, it's a bit bigger. Phones are getting more and more powerful.
Non, elle est un peu plus grande. Les téléphones sont de plus en plus puissants.
Tom : The more I look, the more I hesitate!
Plus je regarde, plus j'hésite !
