Dans The Tempest, la dernière grande pièce de Shakespeare, Prospero, duc chassé de Milan, vit sur une île avec sa fille Miranda. Grâce à sa magie et à l'esprit Ariel, il déclenche une tempête qui fait échouer sur l'île le bateau de ses ennemis. À la fin, il pardonne, renonce à la magie et libère Ariel. Au prétérit : be → was/were, send → sent, set → set, have → had.

Teacher : Who was Prospero?
Qui était Prospero ?
Hugo : He was a magician. He lived on an island with his daughter Miranda.
C'était un magicien. Il vivait sur une île avec sa fille Miranda.
Teacher : What did he do?
Qu'a-t-il fait ?
Ella : With the help of Ariel, a spirit, he sent a storm. His enemies' ship was wrecked on the island.
Avec l'aide d'Ariel, un esprit, il a envoyé une tempête. Le bateau de ses ennemis a fait naufrage sur l'île.
Teacher : Was he cruel to them?
A-t-il été cruel avec eux ?
Hugo : No! At the end, he forgave them, gave up his magic and set Ariel free.
Non ! À la fin, il leur a pardonné, a renoncé à sa magie et a libéré Ariel.
