Pour demander son chemin dans un bâtiment : Excuse me, where's...? Réponses : It's upstairs, on the first floor, at the end of the corridor, next to the library, opposite the toilets. Attention : au Royaume-Uni, the first floor = le 1er étage, et the ground floor = le rez-de-chaussée.

Mise en situation : le premier jour au collège

Hugo : Excuse me, I'm lost! Where's room 12?
Excusez-moi, je suis perdu ! Où est la salle 12 ?
Sarah : It's upstairs, on the first floor. Go up the stairs and turn left.
C'est à l'étage, au premier. Monte l'escalier et tourne à gauche.
Hugo : Is it next to the library?
C'est à côté du CDI ?
Sarah : No, it's at the end of the corridor, opposite the toilets.
Non, c'est au bout du couloir, en face des toilettes.
Hugo : Thanks! And where's the canteen?
Merci ! Et où est la cantine ?
Sarah : Downstairs, on the ground floor. I'll show you at lunchtime!
En bas, au rez-de-chaussée. Je te montrerai à midi !
