Teacher : Is gratitude really good for us, or is it just a nice idea?
Lea : Research suggests that people who keep a gratitude journal feel happier and sleep better.
Nathan : It is worth noting, though, that the effects are often small. Gratitude isn't a magic cure.
Teacher : Can it ever be harmful?
Peut-elle parfois être nuisible ?
Lea : Critics point out that telling someone who is struggling to 'just be grateful' can make them feel worse. That's toxic positivity.
Nathan : So gratitude works best when it's sincere and freely chosen, like at a Thanksgiving table among friends.
