personne (-one / -body)chose (-thing)lieu (-where)
some-someone, somebody (quelqu'un)something (quelque chose)somewhere (quelque part)
any-anyone, anybodyanythinganywhere
no-no one, nobody (personne)nothing (rien)nowhere (nulle part)

Some-, any-, no- : comme some, any et no

There's someone at the door. (phrase affirmative)
Il y a quelqu'un à la porte.
Is there anything to eat? I didn't see anybody. (question, négation)
Il y a quelque chose à manger ? Je n'ai vu personne.
Nobody came. I've got nothing to do.
Personne n'est venu. Je n'ai rien à faire.

Attention : no one, nothing, nowhere sont déjà négatifs : pas de double négation (I didn't see nobody).

Pour proposer quelque chose, on emploie some- : Would you like something to drink?

Every- : verbe au singulier

Everybody is here. (et non are)

Mum : Have you seen my keys anywhere?
Tu as vu mes clés quelque part ?
Ben : No, I haven't seen them anywhere. Have you looked everywhere?
Tu as regardé partout ?
Mum : Yes! They're nowhere. Somebody must have taken them!
Oui ! Elles ne sont nulle part. Quelqu'un a dû les prendre !
Ben : Look, there's something in your coat pocket...

  • some- (affirmation, offre), any- (question, négation), no- (verbe affirmatif), every- (tout).
  • Pas de double négation : I didn't see anyone = I saw no one.
  • Everyone / everybody + verbe au singulier.
  • something interesting, someone else, nowhere special.
