a solid / a liquid / a gasun solide / un liquide / un gaz
Ice melts.La glace fond.
Water freezes at 0°C.L'eau gèle à 0 °C.
Water boils at 100°C.L'eau bout à 100 °C.
steamla vapeur
If you heat ice, it melts.

Pour une vérité scientifique : If + présent, présent (If you heat ice, it melts).

Mise en situation : l'expérience

Teacher : Here's an ice cube. Is it a solid, a liquid or a gas?
Adam : It's a solid! It's hard and it keeps its shape.
Teacher : Right. What happens if I heat it?
Exact. Que se passe-t-il si je le chauffe ?
Lily : It melts and becomes water, a liquid!
Teacher : And if I keep heating the water?
Adam : At a hundred degrees, it boils and turns into steam. That's a gas!

  • a solid, a liquid, a gas, ice, water, steam, an ice cube, a degree.
  • melt, freeze, boil, evaporate, condense ; If you heat ice, it melts. (vérité générale)
