Le slow travel, c'est voyager moins vite et moins loin, en train, en bus, en ferry ou à vélo, pour réduire son empreinte carbone et mieux découvrir les lieux traversés. Le mot suédois flygskam (« honte de prendre l'avion ») a été traduit en anglais par flight shame. On met plus de temps, mais on profite du paysage, on rencontre des gens, et le trajet devient une partie du voyage. Grammaire : instead of + -ing (au lieu de), It takes + durée.

Mise en situation : le projet de voyage

Lucy : This summer, we're going to Italy by train instead of flying.

Cet été, on va en Italie en train au lieu de prendre l'avion.

Theo : By train? How long does it take?

En train ? Combien de temps ça prend ?

Lucy : About twelve hours from Paris, with one change. It takes longer, but it's more relaxing and much better for the planet.

Environ douze heures depuis Paris, avec un changement. C'est plus long, mais plus reposant et bien meilleur pour la planète.

Theo : Isn't it more expensive?

Ce n'est pas plus cher ?

Lucy : Sometimes, if you book late. But we'll stop in Switzerland for a night. The journey is part of the adventure!

Parfois, si on réserve tard. Mais on s'arrêtera une nuit en Suisse. Le trajet fait partie de l'aventure !

Theo : That sounds great. Maybe I'll try slow travel too.
