Pat-a-cake est un jeu de mains que l'on fait à deux en tapant dans les mains de l'autre. On demande au pâtissier (baker's man) de faire un gâteau : Bake me a cake as fast as you can! Puis on mime : on le tapote (pat it), on le roule (roll it), on écrit une lettre dessus, et on le met au four (put it in the oven).

Mise en situation : le jeu de mains

Mia : Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker's man!
Tape le gâteau, tape le gâteau, monsieur le pâtissier !
Leo : Bake me a cake as fast as you can!
Fais-moi un gâteau aussi vite que tu peux !
Mia : Pat it and roll it...
Tapote-le et roule-le...
Leo : And mark it with an L, for Leo!
Et marque-le d'un L, pour Leo !
Mia : Put it in the oven!
Mets-le au four !
Leo : Mmm! Yummy cake!
Miam ! Un délicieux gâteau !
