Dans les pays anglophones, on chante Happy Birthday to You et on souffle les bougies après avoir fait un vœu en silence.

Mise en situation : la préparation de la fête

Mum : How many friends are you inviting?
Combien d'amis invites-tu ?
Lucy : Ten! We need balloons, decorations and a big chocolate cake.
Dix ! Il nous faut des ballons, des décorations et un gros gâteau au chocolat.
Mum : And twelve candles, because you'll be twelve!
Et douze bougies, puisque tu vas avoir douze ans !
Lucy : Yes! Then everyone will sing and I'll make a wish.
Oui ! Ensuite tout le monde chantera et je ferai un vœu.
