AnglaisFrançais
If I won the lottery, I would travel around the world.
I'd buy a house for my parents.J'achèterais une maison pour mes parents.
I'd give some money to charity.
If I were rich, I wouldn't stop working.
If I were you, I'd save it.Si j'étais toi, je l'économiserais.

If I won the lottery, I would buy a boat. Attention : après if, jamais de would ! Avec be, on dit souvent If I were... pour toutes les personnes (If I were you = si j'étais toi, pour donner un conseil). Contraction : I would → I'd, would not → wouldn't.

Mise en situation : à la cantine

Hugo : If you won the lottery, what would you do?
Lina : I'd travel around the world! And I'd buy a big house for my parents.
Hugo : I'd buy a football club! And a private jet.
J'achèterais un club de foot ! Et un jet privé.
Lina : Really? I'd give some money to charity too. And I wouldn't stop studying.
Vraiment ?
Hugo : If I were rich, I wouldn't do any homework!
If I were you, I'd still do it. Money can't buy happiness... or good marks!
