Dans cette comptine traditionnelle, cinq petits canards partent se promener, mais à chaque fois, il en revient un de moins : five, four, three, two, one... jusqu'à ce que maman cane crie très fort Quack, quack, quack! et que tous les canards reviennent. Le canard fait quack en anglais (pas « coin coin ») !

Mise en situation : la chanson

Teacher : Five little ducks went out one day...
Cinq petits canards sont partis un jour...
Children : Over the hills and far away!
Par-delà les collines, très loin !
Teacher : Mother Duck said: Quack, quack, quack, quack!
Maman cane a dit : coin, coin, coin, coin !
Children : But only four little ducks came back!
Mais seulement quatre petits canards sont revenus !
Teacher : And at the end?
Et à la fin ?
Children : All the five little ducks came back! Hooray!
Les cinq petits canards sont tous revenus ! Hourra !
