Analyse : The wallpaper symbolises / represents / suggests...

Jade : Her husband, who is a doctor, thinks she needs complete rest. She isn't allowed to write or to work.

Theo : No, it makes her worse. She becomes obsessed with the wallpaper and sees a woman trapped behind the pattern.
Teacher : What could the trapped woman symbolise?
Que pourrait symboliser la femme prisonnière ?
Jade : I think she represents the narrator herself, and all the women of her time who weren't free to make their own choices.
