Journalist : Mr Stevenson, how did Treasure Island begin?
Stevenson : It was a rainy holiday in Scotland. My stepson Lloyd and I had drawn the map of an island, just for fun.
Journalist : And then the story came?
Et l'histoire est venue ensuite ?
Stevenson : Yes! Once I had looked at the map, the characters appeared. I wrote a chapter every day and read it to the family.
Oui !
Journalist : Was it a success at once?
A-t-elle eu du succès tout de suite ?
Stevenson : Not really. It first came out as a serial in a children's magazine. The book, in 1883, was much more successful.
