La saga compte 7 livres (1997-2007) et 8 films (2001-2011), le dernier livre ayant été divisé en deux films. Pour comparer : The book is more detailed than the film. The film is shorter, so they cut scenes. The special effects are impressive.

Mise en situation : le débat

Teacher : Which do you prefer, the books or the films?
Que préférez-vous, les livres ou les films ?
Ines : The books! They're more detailed, and you can imagine the characters yourself.
Les livres ! Ils sont plus détaillés, et on peut imaginer les personnages soi-même.
Hugo : I prefer the films. The special effects are amazing and the cast is brilliant.
Je préfère les films. Les effets spéciaux sont incroyables et les acteurs sont géniaux.
Ines : But they cut lots of scenes! The films aren't always faithful to the books.
Mais ils ont coupé plein de scènes ! Les films ne sont pas toujours fidèles aux livres.
Teacher : Good points. An adaptation always has to make choices.
Bons arguments. Une adaptation doit toujours faire des choix.
